Brothers and Sisters of the Game, welcome back to Let Us Play…
Who has two thumbs and picked the absolute wrong week to relaunch his website?
When I decided it was time to relaunch my website, I must admit, it was at least a week late from my intended relaunch date, and so when I got things done and written up, I did so without realising that the week following that fateful post, would also be an incredibly busy week. To be fair on myself, some of it wasn’t my fault, I couldn’t predict my internet being temperamental due to storms, or the complete creative block I suffered for a couple of days, but things I should have taken into consideration was the extra hours I had in work this week, and my birthday weekend. I have been effectively busy every day since I posted the new State of the Church update.
As a way of getting back into the writing process and catching everyone up on the new and/or improved articles that I’ll be producing, I decided that I would write an introductory post for each of my major projects. Due to this being a busy week, and wanting to get an article out all the same, I figured the best first step would be a blog post.
The Book Of Frog
The Frog Blog has only gone through some minor changes in the grad scheme of things, at the end of the day it’s still a blog where I post things about may day or week, talk about the games I’m currently playing, talk about opinions unrelated to gaming, etc. That much won’t change. What has changed is the addition of two “new” ideas to the Frog Blog and a name change. I know, I like to live life of the edge.
Seeing as this is my personal website, no one else is likely to be writing blogs, even Queen Qeeko, my wife who writes the Arcade Block unboxings, has no intentions of writing blogs, so there’s no reason to try and come up with a generalised name for the blog section. It’s all about me. So I went with the Book of Frog. I’ve used “The Book of Frog” in the past on Badly.Productions and Ultima-Java, to signify the projects that I produced. Since building my own site, I’ve had no use for the title, until now, and it really makes sense as a blog title, as well as evoking a sense of religious text, much like I’m going for with the theme of this site.
Pokémon Trading Card Game
Previous to the crash, I was trying to feel out the best way to write a Pokémon Trading Card Game unboxing/pack cracking project. Due to difficulty coming up with an appropriate format for the project, the idea has been scrapped as it’s own thing, but will continue on as a part of The Book Of Frog where I can be more casual with how I approach the writing and formatting.
I’m looking forward to writing about new sets, decks I want to build, cool cards I get and cracking boosters, for both the physical card game and the Online TCG. For the most part though, I see these are being more discussion orientated and blog-like topics anyway, so it’s probably for the best that I decided to drop the project.
I know not everyone is going to be interested in reading about the Pokémon TCG, or maybe there will be some people who are only interested in it, so as such I’ll include the Pokémon League logo on the title cards of Pokémon TCG updates. I may mention the Pokémon TCG in other posts, but title cards with this logo will be specifically Pokémon TCG themed.
ASK.fm is a website entirely dedicated to the Ask Me Anything format. Once you are signed in, you can find and follow people you know, celebrities and public figures, and ask them questions. Simples. When the questions are answered, they are displayed on their activity wall, and you will be notified that the question has been answered. Its a great concept, and a very straight forward site to use.
So, if you want to ask me questions, please sign up over there, and ask away. I’ll be including the best questions into posts here, and if I get a lot of activity, I’ll do a regular update featuring the best question each month.
Happy Birthday to me!
Last Sunday (27th) was my Birthday, I turned Thirty-One. It’s crazy, and just a bit terrifying how fast time flies. As Bon Jovi said, “Life was just what happened while we were busy making plans.” or maybe as Mark Knopfler wrote it in Telegraph Road, “When life was just a bet on a race between the lights.” I know in the song he’s talking literally, but it fits doesn’t it. The stop and go isn’t life, it’s the waiting and setting up what is ultimately life’s greatest wager that takes up most of your time. The race between the lights may only take seconds, a fraction of the time it takes when you’re waiting for the opportunity.
But let’s not get bogged down in lyrically inspired philosophising about the rigors of time and the constant tick down to our inevitable demise. Let’s focus on the happy things of actually managing to survive another trip around the sun! 2016 still has time to try and take me with it, like it has so many others, but my personal trip has been a success, we must celebrate that, and it wasa really cool weekend, with so many great friends!
We started Saturday night with our regular gaming night becoming a Pizza Party, and Sunday we went out to a local Turkish restaurant, twenty of us in all sharing a good meal and food fellowship! What more could I want for my Birthday?
Oh yeah, this guy from Qeeko!
I’ve been wanting to get my hands on the Nendoroid and Figma Legend of Zelda figures for some time, and that all starts here with the Majora’s Mask Link Nedoroid! I must admit I was not expecting it to be this damn cute. And he comes with so many accessories. I’m really happy with this!
And that is all for this update of The Book of Frog!
If you want to keep up to date with the things that I’m doing I highly recommend following me on social media. I have a Facebook Page and Twitter, which are my main ports of call for social media. If you do have a Facebook account I also recommend checking out the Badly.Network Facebook group for fun stuff, a kick ass community and regular gaming events. You can also follow me on other platforms, I have Google Plus, GAB and Tumblr Accounts too. I don’t really update those much, it’s mostly a way of spreading my articles to more audiences.
And don’t forget to check out ASK.fm!
If you like what I’m doing here and want to support my efforts, please think about helping out by contributing to my Patreon. Every little helps!
Thanks everyone for sticking by me through these troubles, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
Speak you you all soon,
Peace and High Scores!
