State of Site (and Mind)

This post is going to be a little more of an update more than anything else, but if you’re reading this, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been more quiet lately. This is for several reasons, one of them being Persona 5 consuming my life since release. However most of them are boring and unpleasant to get into, but also partly because I’ve been considering what exactly I want to focus on in my project time. Starting soon I do intend to get back into writing reviews for both games and anime, and hopefully do more articles as well, but I want to change up how some things are done.

First and foremost, I want to be a little more flexible with tackling Anime series. Instead of doing a first episode and finished season format, I’m going to do the first three episodes as an introduction before reviewing the season or show entirely. This is mainly because I personally don’t think one episode being the make or break has ever been fair for any kind of series. People often take a glance at something and give up before a show hits its stride, and it’s why I prefer a three-episode rule. If three episodes in you don’t care, then you did actually give it a chance and moved on. As for the season or finished show rule, if I start something new and really get into it, this gives me a chance to watch as the season progresses or binge the finished season if there’s more to come. If the show is completely finished though, I might just watch it all and summarise my thoughts.

Along with these changes I want to keep the reviews a little more compact. There’s nothing wrong with a long review but personally I like trying to be a little more compact if possible, keeping it about my feelings of the show and a low down of what to expect without ruining too much before you go in. That’s not to say some won’t be longer, but ideally, I want to change my style and approach slightly. The same basic thoughts apply to games, although it’s going to be only the one piece when I feel satisfied I can get a proper review out. Where I can I’m also going to be trying to do some shorter articles, talking about aspects of gaming or recent news that relates to a topic. These might be shorter pieces with no real schedule, but hopefully between everything else it’s at least a way to put down some thoughts if I don’t feel up to completing a whole game in time for a new piece.

Lastly in regards to streaming, it’s something that I’m on the fence about. Typically, I enjoy streaming and the good that comes with it, but it’s also a platform that constantly makes you unsatisfied with your results no matter what you achieve. The best advice is to just play for the games and enjoy it as it comes, but you will always “turn on” streaming mode the second you go live, and it can be draining, especially on the emptier nights. I want to get back into it all soon but it’s hard to start again after such a long break.

Short version is, stuff has been going on, but I’m going to try and be more active again. Hopefully I’ll be back with more regular updates and content as I try to change my format a little. Until then, thanks to everyone that’s still followed along with my work until now, keep an eye out for new stuff soon.
